Free Parental Control Software
Monday, September 4th, 2006Microsoft released Windows Live OneCare Family Safety. A web based parental control software – I just set it up for a trial. Here’s a gist of how it works. You sign in – if you already have a Hotmail or MSN account you can login with that very same information. Then you need to download and install a software for each computer you’d like to monitor. Through a web based interface, you can login and look at what sites have been accessed on which computer, set restrictions online – stuff like that. You can check
all this stuff out while at work.
What I haven’t determined yet at this point is, if the desktop counterpart to this service can be found and uninstalled without permission. If it can, then it will defeat the purpose since kids are oh so computer savvy these days. Will definitely check it out further.
